Durham is consistently ranked among the top 10 universities in national rankings (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, Guardian University Guide and The Complete University Guide). The overall experience at Durham University is quite good. The university has abundant resources, but academic pressure is relatively high. When I was considering my university options, I remember looking at the different facilities offered by each university and seeing many of them advertising suites with state-of-the-art laboratories, sophisticated technical equipment and specialized scientific blocks. Durham is a good university with a great reputation in the UK, but it can be difficult to determine the real differences between Durham and those other models of the academy.
Students returning to Durham were denied housing at a rate of 50%, causing it to be shouted that there was a housing crisis in Durham that their university system should have mitigated.
